Is yoga is safe for babies?
According to pediatricians and nurses, the answer is a resounding "Yes!" Itsy Bitsy Yoga® is safe, gentle and very effective when done with instruction at home or in a class setting. The parent is responsible for carrying out all of the baby's yoga movements until the baby is walking. In the more active program for tots, parents are there to support and assist their toddler into yoga poses whenever necessary. Parents also enjoy the time to practice yoga poses, while letting their child imitate and explore yoga on her own two feet.

How do I know which class is right for me and my baby / tot?
If your baby is crawling (or seems ready to crawl in the next few weeks) you would be best suited for the Tots class. This class is for mobile babies & tots. If your baby is not yet crawling (no matter what age) then s/he would probably enjoy the Baby class which is best suited to the developing bodies of non-mobile babies.

What should I bring to class?
You can bring your own yoga mat or borrow one from the studio. Please dress yourself and your child in comfortable clothing. For the BABY class please bring a baby blanket and a small toy.

Is this an adult class that incorporates the baby into the adult yoga postures?
No, actually Itsy Bitsy Yoga® is a loving program designed for your little one's developing body. There is some adult movement in the Infants class and much more in the Tots classes. In addition to learning the exclusive IBY poses, you will discover calming, breathing and relaxation techniques that will make you feel good and will help you feel centered and re-charged.

I do not have any yoga experience - will I feel lost?
No yoga experience is necessary to enjoy Itsy Bitsy Yoga classes with your child. Those with familiarity of yoga often find that the IBY program and benefits for their baby/tot really resonates with their own knowledge and practice of adult yoga.

What if my baby cries during class?
Crying is one of the ways babies express themselves and vocalize their needs. Should your baby begin to cry, deepen your breath and relax. Bring your baby close to you. As you relax, your baby will relax and you can tend to your baby's needs. A wonderful benefit of the Itsy Bitsy Yoga program is that you will learn a number of the exclusive IBY "Magic Poses" which can literally calm crying in seconds when practiced with the right intensity.

What if my baby is hungry or needs to be changed during class?
We encourage you to attend to your baby's needs at any time during the class. This is an environment supportive to breastfeeding and bottle feeding parents.
